South End and LoSo Food Guide

Mills and warehouses turned into taprooms along the Rail Trail, in the fastest-changing part of Charlotte. Check the date on anything you read about this neighborhood.

South End is the old textile corridor along the rail line, rebuilt into the densest new development in Charlotte, with the Rail Trail running down the middle of it and the light rail alongside. It is also the neighborhood where a guide goes out of date fastest, which is worth saying plainly at the top of a guide.

Beer, which is most of it: Wooden Robot, Lenny Boy, Craft Tasting Room and Trolley Barn Fermentory. Club West opened in January 2026 in the address Sycamore Brewing occupied for years.

Down in LoSo: Sugar Creek and Brewers at 4001 Yancey, in the industrial stretch past South End proper.

Food: Mac's Speed Shop on South Boulevard, The Waterman and Yunta for Nikkei. Amos' Southend is the live room.

A warning about this neighborhood specifically. The South End neighborhood association's own brewery guide still lists four taprooms that have closed, and still says one of them is moving somewhere in early 2023. Eight South End and LoSo rooms shut in 2025 alone. If you are working from a list, check the date on the list. Ours is on the closed page.
