Club West Brewing vs. Sycamore: What Actually Changed?

The same South End brewery address now has a new owner, a western look, a changed food and bar program, and some familiar Sycamore recipes still on the beer list.

Club West is neither a completely new brewery nor Sycamore with a different sign. It reopened March 14, 2026 under new owner Brad Bergman. Much of the staff stayed, and the beer list mixes familiar recipes with new ones. The room, food and bar changed.

If you liked Sycamore for the Hawkins Street brewery, the visit should still feel familiar. The same South End address is open from morning into late night. Club West now wraps it in a western theme with a revamped menu, a bourbon bar and its own events.

What stayed from Sycamore

Much of the staff stayed. So did some beer recipes. Axios reported that Club West IPA began as Sycamore's Mountain Candy before the hop bill changed. That is the cleanest example of the handoff: a familiar base with new decisions behind it.

The address stayed too. Club West occupies the same large South End taproom at 2151 Hawkins Street, directly on the Rail Trail.

What changed at Club West

Ownership changed first. Brad Bergman took over the business and reopened it as Club West. The new name came with fresh decor and a western theme.

The food and bar changed with it. Club West introduced a revamped menu and replaced the old coffee bar with a bourbon bar. The brewery also mixes new recipes into the beer list instead of treating the old Sycamore lineup as a museum piece.

What a visit is like now

The current taproom combines craft beer, cocktails, food, live music and events. It opens at 8 a.m. every day, then stays open later from Tuesday through Saturday. Check the current hours and menu or the specials and events page before you go.

The official Instagram describes Club West as South End's western hangout spot. That is a fair shorthand for the change: the old brewery address is still easy to recognize, but the room now wants its own identity.

Should you go back?

The best reason to return is curiosity, not nostalgia. Club West kept enough of the old taproom to feel recognizable, then made a visible break in ownership and personality.

If you want the old building with familiar beer roots and a different bar experience, that is what is here. If you only wanted the Sycamore name, that part is gone.
